The Meffs announce new album

Essex punk duo The Meffs have confirmed details of their second album Business, set for release on 11 September via FLG. Alongside the announcement, the band have shared the album’s title track as a first taste of what’s to come.

Lily (guitar and vocals) and Lewis (drums) continue to sharpen their sound, with Business positioned as their most direct and politically charged record to date. The title track lands hard, taking aim at identity, expectation and the pressures of fitting into a mould.

Speaking on the single, the band explain that the track reflects the contradictions of modern identity. Being told to be yourself often comes with conditions, and Business leans into that tension. The result is a track that feels both confrontational and oddly personal, described by the band themselves as a love song.

The album expands on that idea. According to the duo, Business touches everything – work, politics, health and daily life. It is meant to feel relentless, pushing forward without pause. That intent carries through across its 11 tracks.

Produced by Dan Weller, the record captures the raw edge of the band’s live shows. Tracks like So Modern (Keep Up) retain that scuffed, high-energy feel, while Love To Lose and Fight deliver short bursts of pace and urgency. Elsewhere, Disorder (Wake Up) and Like Gravity explore heavier themes without losing momentum.

The announcement follows a strong year for the band. Across 2025, The Meffs supported acts including The Sex Pistols and The Undertones, played major festivals such as Glastonbury, 2000trees and Download, and sold out headline shows across the UK and Europe. Despite that schedule, they still managed to write and record a full album that builds on their growing reputation.

Since emerging, The Meffs have established themselves as a tight, no-frills punk outfit with a clear sense of identity. Their DIY approach and support for grassroots venues, including their role as Music Venue Trust patrons, continues to shape their path.

With Business, the band push that identity further. It is a record that keeps things simple in delivery but pointed in message. No gimmicks, no padding – just straight, modern punk with something to say.
