Booze & Glory – Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

True Streetpunk spirit

It’s been six years since Hurricane, but Booze & Glory have returned with Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, released 12 September on Concrete Jungle Records. While Hurricane flirted with melodic punk rock, this new record is a proper step back into their streetpunk roots, picking up where 2022’s Raising the Roof EP left off.

Booze & Glory – Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

There have been the usual line-up changes, with Manny Anzaldo (Mad Sin, Resurex) on guitar and Hervé JL (Deadline, Argy Bargy, The Filaments) on bass. Both fit right in, adding energy to a sound still driven by Mark RSK’s unmistakable vocals and Frank’s steady drumming. The result is a sharp, unpretentious record packed with anthems.

Boys Will Be Boys kicks things off in style, followed by Rocky Road and Mad World, all built for fists in the air and beer-soaked singalongs. Family Isn’t Always Blood pays tribute to chosen family, while Brace Up celebrates chaos with your mates. Jimmy Fake takes a swipe at opportunists, Do Yourself a Favour shrugs off scene politics, and I’d Die For You is a heartfelt moment about fatherhood that stands out as one of the band’s strongest songs to date.

The back end doesn’t lose steam either. Legends tips its hat to punk heroes, Till The Last Breath throws down a hardcore punch, and The One and Only closes the record with a stripped-down acoustic farewell to former bassist Chema.

Like always, Booze & Glory deliver big hooks, gang vocals and plenty of “oi, oi, oi” spirit. It’s not perfect – a track or two drag – but overall Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is Booze & Glory at their best: loud, raw, and meant to be shouted in unison.
